Our Mission
The Los Angeles Food Policy Council (LAFPC) works to ensure food is healthy, affordable, fair and sustainable for all.
We believe Good Food for All is possible and that all communities deserve access to good food, grown in a way that respects people and the planet. We work to create a local food system free from hunger, rooted in equity and access, supportive of farmers and food workers, and guided by principles of environmental stewardship and regeneration. To accomplish our vision of Good Food for All, we catalyze, coordinate and connect people across the LA region, including government, business and community groups working on food.

As a collective impact organization, we are stronger in numbers. To amplify the incredible people power of those passionate about the Good Food Movement, we:
Convene Working Groups around key food system issues areas to advance policy
Join in on Working Groups convened by others to further food system networks efforts
Facilitate Leadership Development in order to foster awareness and support active community and organizational participation in systems change work
Our Guiding Vision
The Good Food For All Agenda
The Good Food for All Agenda is a collective policy platform reflecting the power of food for community health, environmental stewardship and a fair economy, and represents the priorities of the broader food movement in Los Angeles. The LA Food Policy Council is currently revising the Good Food For All Agenda. The revised GFFA agenda will be released in January 2024, and will serve as a guide for our organization from 2024 through 2029.
Last revised in 2017 to guide our organization from 2018 through 2023, the Good Food For All Agenda was created by collecting input from over 300 stakeholders, including local food advocates, farmers, gardeners, entrepreneurs, distributors, retailers, scientists, policymakers, advocates and residents throughout the Los Angeles County.
The original Good Food for All Agenda was created in 2010 through the efforts of the Food Policy Task Force convened by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Whether it's by training the next generation of food leaders in Los Angeles, helping consumers and business owners make healthier choices, or hosting cooking demonstrations with CalFresh ingredients, education is at the heart of the Good Food Movement.
LAFPC works to increase resident and government engagement, to community organize for food justice, and to bring local voices to state and national conversations.
Through programs and initiatives, we aim to increase participation in nutrition assistance programs; support small, local Good Food entrepreneurs; create economic incentives for healthy food consumption; and invest in infrastructure that supports a healthy food supply chain.
LAFPC uses research to spur innovation, facilitate partnerships, and advocate for legislation that works to make food healthy, affordable, fair, and sustainable for all.
