WHAT IS GOOD FOOD DAY?

Food Day is a national initiative aiming to inspire Americans to change our diets and our food policies. Every October, thousands of events all around the country bring Americans together to celebrate and enjoy Good Food and to push for improved food policies.

GOOD FOOD DAY 2023

The theme for Good Food Day LA this year is “Our Food Supply Chain and Climate Sustainability.” As the Los Angeles Food Policy Council, we understand the crucial link between our local food landscape and climate change. The global food system, comprising production, distribution, consumption, and waste, accounts for a third of all greenhouse gases, with detrimental consequences for local environments and the planet. Part of the solution to this crisis is to make our food system hyper-local by supporting small family-owned businesses with sustainable practices. These sustainability-focused businesses, including farmers, distributors, and retailers contribute to local economic stability, enhance food security, and aid in climate mitigation.

Meet the 2023 Good Food Champions

A Good Food Champion is any person, organization, or company in Los Angeles that promotes healthy food access. We asked the City Councilmembers of Los Angeles to honor a Good Food Champion in their district. Here they are!
