Food as Medicine


The Food As Medicine Working Group mission is to promote food as a preventative measure against disease, and inform the community of action tools and holistic food resources.


  • To connect nutritionists, health coaches, dietitians and other alternative health practitioners to projects that improve the health of residents through policy and environmental change.
  • To develop holistic nutrition resources that support the work of other LAFPC working groups.
  • To conduct research that demonstrates how medical and health care providers can support healthy neighborhoods by understanding food as medicine and the importance of preventative and community health.
  • To develop a strategy to disseminate information to educate people about their food…importance of nutrients in food, how to store it safely for longevity, and how to cook it for nutrient retention.
