The Los Angeles Food Policy Council is excited to host our bimonthly Network meeting at The Wellness Center at the Historic General Hospital on Thursday, June 19. Expert panelists will discuss how the Affordable Care Act is shifting traditional medical care towards preventative care and supporting community food projects. Come find out how medical care, nutrition benefits and healthy food access connect, alternative funding opportunities through ACA and the ways medical institutions are promoting proactive healthy food initiatives. Getting to The Wellness Center

We are very excited to host our event at the recently reopened Wellness Center, an inspiring space that offers a variety of free health and wellbeing services to residents and patients. The Wellness Center (TWC) is located on the first floor of the Historic General Hospital, which sits atop a hill in Boyle Heights.

Public Transportation

Via Metro Silver Line (Stop: LA County + USC Medical Center)

Via DASH Boyle Heights/East LA and DASH Lincoln Heights/Chinatown (Stop: State St & LAC + USC Medical Center)

Via Metro Lines 605 and 620 (Stop: LAC+USC Medical Center)



Limited free parking is available in Lot 10, a parking structure located at the corner of Mission Road and Zonal Avenue about 0.3 miles away from The Wellness Center (TWC). A wheelchair-accessible shuttle runs every 15 minutes and takes passengers from Lot 10 up the hill to TWC. Lot 10 is a 10 minute walk from TWC, but please note that the walk requires taking a set of stairs up the hill. If you are driving, we recommend giving yourself enough time to park and take the shuttle.

  • Via I-5 heading South
  • Exit Mission Road
  • Turn Left onto N. Mission Road
  • Turn Right onto Zonal Avenue


Via I-5 heading North

  • Take the exit toward Main Street
  • Turn Right onto Daly Street
  • Turn Left onto N. Mission Rd
  • Turn Right onto Zonal Ave


Via I-10 heading West

  • Exit Soto Street
  • Continue straight onto Charlotte Street
  • Turn right onto Cornwell Street
  • Continue onto Zonal Avenue


Via I-10 heading East

  • Exit Soto Street
  • Turn left onto Soto Street
  • Turn Left on Charlotte Street
  • Turn right onto Cornwell Street
  • Continue onto Zonal Avenue

Lot 10 to TWC

Directions to Lot 10 Parking Structure via Zonal Avenue:

  • From Zonal Avenue, turn into a driveway with a small sign that reads “Lot 10”
  • When you come to the fork in the road, take the right
  • Park in Lot 10
  • Walk to the entrance of the parking structure and take the shuttle (runs every 15 minutes) OR take the set of stairs to the Wellness Center
