The Los Angeles Food Policy Council (LAFPC) is a collective impact organization uniting diverse stakeholders to build a healthy, fair, and sustainable food system. Through policy advocacy, innovative programming, network coordination, and capacity building, we drive systemic change and support community-led solutions.
By bridging grassroots efforts with policymaking, LAFPC strengthens local food economies, expands access to nutritious, culturally relevant food, and fosters collaboration across sectors. We currently coordinate 100+ organizations through five working groups and alliances, working together to transform Los Angeles’ food system.
POLICY & Coalitions
Our collective impact approach centers coalitions from diverse sectors to find common grounds on policy priorities. We educate and support policymakers, organizations and the general public on issues in our regional food system and beyond. We convene multi-sector leaders to discuss policy initiatives, conduct research to create data-informed solutions, and propose innovative policy solutions to build a just and sustainable food system.
Business Programs
We serve farmers and food-based businesses with technical assistance, training, and workshops to help build resources and growth that become important healthy food access points for the communities they serve. Our business programs are a call to action using innovation as a direct result of our collective impact approach and the immediate need for systemic change that is community-centered.
Training & Capital
In order to create transformative change in our regional food system, access to business capacity building through training and capital support is an essential link to ensuring business sustainability. Our efforts center businesses focusing on healthy food accessibility in their communities that need capital to create long-term growth. Our resources include relevant training, peer-to-peer learning, networking, grants and loans.

JOIN THE MOVEMENT

We reside, work, and cultivate food
on unceded Indigenous homelands.
We acknowledge and honor the descendants of the Tongva, Kizh, and Gabrieleño peoples as the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar (the Los Angeles Basin and the Southern Channel Islands). We pay our respects to the Honuukvetam (Ancestors), ‘Ahiihirom (Elders) and ‘Eyoohiinkem (our relatives/relations) past, present and emerging.
As part of a greater foodshed, we would also like to pay respect to and honor the Chumash, Tataviam, Serrano, Kitanemuk, ʔíviĨuqaletem, Acjachemen, Payómkawichum, and any other tribal group possibly not mentioned. As a Food Policy Council for Los Angeles we recognize this land acknowledgment is limited and engagement is an ongoing process of learning and accountability.
